A wonderful day for pie !

As some of you might know this was the project a finished a couple months back. It was the Disney sequence for Seth MAcFarlanes Family Guy. Multiple characters, low budget and limited time but that was offset by having a good company as my liaison ( Mainstreet Pictures ) and a terrific art director Tony Pulham. Because of cost the cleanup was sent overseas so while not perfect most survived. Not bad considering this is not the kind of work they do.

Gotta say I LOVED this sequence. I'm glad I found you through the links on Cartoon Brew, cause watching this bit truly was refreshing to see on TV again (let alone Family Guy). Give some praise to the other folks who worked on it as well for me because you all deserved it.

Darlie, this sequence is your best work yet! :)

I knew you had a hand in that. ;) Animation looked too smooth to be the work anyone else but a talented animator. I agree with Annie-Mae, this sequence was definitely refreshing to view.

Even though it is a very well made sequence and congrats to you for pulling it off, the joke at the end just ruined it for me. Itwas just a typical, expected joke that quite frankily is insulting. Sorry to complain to you, it's not your fault, it's the writers.

First , thank you all.

Look, Walt was not an evil man but he had a dark side. There is evidence that he was not crazy about colored people , nor was he crazy about NY Jews ( See the Secret Lives of Walt Disney). This is still in a time where stereotypes were rampant about all minorities and I think it reflects the cxultural ignorance that surrounded Disney . You aren't supposed to laugh like you are enjoying Mort being killed, you are supposed to be left incredibly uncomfortable.

I mean , that time is here again if you look around. right wingers, brown shirts aka tea baggers are threatening anyone they think is liberal ( the new Jew) . There is a great article in Vanity Fair that talks about how hostile Dallas was when Kennedy got shot and it reminds me of just the same thing that is going on right now with right wing extremists.

Hi there!

Wanted to come by and give my thanks for you having worked on that sequence.

You made some very good points about where are country was headed as well, and I had to stop and think those matters a little, and it came to me the reasons why I haven't watched TV regularly for about a decade, nothing on it interests me, even the news! The few times I bother watching, I end up watching only a scan number of channels like PBS, Al Jazeera and a few other foreign programs. It's a shame the people in America who are the way they are, I'm only glad I surpassed my parents' generation in terms of intellect. I felt I was born a leftist in a house that didn't know which side it was on.

Sad really. In time you come to realize how things can be ruined thanks to extreme ideals.

I saw the link to your blog from HuffPo. I am really impressed with your talent! Politics aside, that was a great sequence - Family Guy going Disney was delightful! Wishing you continued success.

They aired the episode of Family guy on BBC3 not so long back here in the UK, and that sequence really did stick in my mind. You seem to have captured the style of Disney's animation perfectly, I really loved it.

Thanks Chris,
We have the potential to be the most well informed generation . It's a responsibility really. I was born in a conservative house but . . . I got over it =)

Hi Cristina -n- Charlie , thank you so much ! Was fun to do !

Hi Sophie ,
I actually was an animator at Disney so I know the style . Wow, the UK ? I lived in Ireland for a couple films. I loved the 2D commercials they used to make . I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
